Life Stuff

Today I went through the Kempo X routine of the P90X series and I am so glad I did.  I successfully made it all the way through the video.  No pauses, no doing simpler versions of the exercises.  I made it!  This is week six for me.  The whole routine is thirteen weeks so I am nearly half way.  Before the routine when I woke up I didn't want to do it and was seriously thinking about skipping it.  Then a little statement that came from another part of the videos came to my mind.  "Keep showing up, keep pressing play.  It doesn't matter if you can keep up.  Just keep pressing play."  And they are right.  Do what you can.  Perfection will come with time.  Today was my perfect Kempo X because I kept pressing play.

This is not the first time I've done the P90X routine.  It's actually the fourth.  Each time I do it I make it to the standard routine (weeks nine through thirteen).  I might do the standard routine over a few times.  Then I get sick or injured, I have to wait a week or two to recover.  I find it so hard to get back into the routine that I end up quitting.  There is something different this time around.

I found out about something called the Spartan Race.  OMG, when I first saw this was, THAT LOOKS LIKE FUN!  Everyone else who saw it thinks I'm crazy, and I think they might be right.  It's a sort of crazy that I like.  I now have a plan.  Do P90X until January.  If I can make it to that milestone, I'm going to sign up for the five K version (the easiest one, not that it is easy). It will happen in the summer so I will keep up with the P90X until the event.  If I get through the five K version alright, I'm going to try the ten K, then the twenty K.  I think I've got a better than average chance of succeeding.  Even if I'm forty.  ;)
